Whole Lamb
We raise and breed 100% grass-fed Dorper Sheep on our farm. Lambs are born in late April and are raised throughout the summer and fall on 30 acres of pasture. Our 100% grass-fed lamb is raised without GMOs, antibiotics, hormones, and medications. Of domesticated farm species, 100% grass-fed lamb has the highest ratio of omega-3 fatty acids, leading some to call it "land salmon."
Compared to conventional lamb, 100% grass-fed lamb is typically:
Higher in omega-3 fatty acids
Lower in saturated fat
Higher in vitamin A, vitamin E, and beta-carotene
Lambs are taken to the butcher in November. An exact date will be provided closer to the fall.
The $100 charge is a non-refundable deposit applied to the total cost of the lamb. The remaining cost of the lamb is due at the time of pick-up.
The cost of purchasing a whole or half animal is comprised of two parts: (1) price per pound of hanging weight and (2) the price of butchering. The hanging weight is the final weight of the animal before it is butchered. The price of butchering depends on selections made at the butcher.
